Golden Acorn award - Outstanding Advocate/Volunteer
Each year PTSA gives Golden Acorn Awards to people who have given exemplary volunteer services to children and youth in our school community. The Golden Acorn Award is very special and is given for continued and dedicated services. This is an excellent way to honor PTSA members for their contributions to this association. When we present a Golden Acorn Award, that individual is given a gold pin in the shape of an acorn, and a special certificate. We also contribute $65.00 in the person’s name to the Washington State PTA Scholarship Foundation. This foundation provides scholarships each year totaling approximately $66,000 to Washington State high school graduates entering their freshman year at a college, university or vocational school of their choice.
Golden Apple Award - Outstanding Educator
The enthusiasm and diversity that an educator brings to the classroom directly influences the success of a student. The benefit of presenting an Outstanding Educator Award is twofold. First, this award enables PTAs to recognize innovative and successful individuals. Secondly, it supports scholarships for students pursuing post-secondary education. Donations are made in each recipient’s name to the fund, which in turn contributes to the future of youth by awarding scholarships to students who are freshmen entering post secondary education. Think of an individual – a teacher, assistant, custodian, bus driver, administrator or community member – who has gone beyond the normal expectations of their job to make the learning environment fun, beneficial, and challenging. This person is a worthy candidate for the Outstanding Educator Award, so please consider nominating them.
Outstanding Advocate
The benefit of presenting an Outstanding Advocate Award is two-fold. First, this award enables PTAs to recognize individuals for their advocacy work on issues concerning children and youth. Secondly, it supports scholarships for students pursuing post-secondary education. Donations are made in each recipient’s name to the fund, which in turn contributes to the future of youth by awarding scholarships to students who are freshmen entering post secondary education. If you know of someone who is an impassioned and compassionate leader, dedicated to advocating for the health, welfare, safety and education of ALL children, and committed to ensuring that others do the same, they are the perfect nominee for this Award.
Honorary Lifetime Membership
